Hi there! I’m Hilary McHone, or “Brooklyn Hilary”.
I’m a smile-wearer, a picture-taker, a people-meeter, a fun-maker, an adventure-seeker & a life-liver.
I escaped my stint in the corporate world (where I worked for NBC, Bravo, and IFC) by going to graduate school. I earned my MBA in Marketing and Management from Fordham University in August of 2006. By the end of my schooling, I knew that I didn’t want to spend every day in a suit or in front of a computer. My entrepreneurial spirit took hold and I began creating jobs for myself which make me feel “warm and fuzzy”.
When I first realized that photography was my passion (back in 2006), I began my first personal photography project – I got up early every morning and photographed all the streets of Park Slope, Brooklyn, where I live. I posted these to Flickr and people started to notice & follow along. (I’ve since had over 2 million views on Flickr .)
At that point, I began calling myself “Brooklyn Hilary” online. Since then, I’ve completed a number of other projects, but most haven’t been location-specific. Recently, I began concentrating on my turf again.
Every day, I am posting a photo taken in Brooklyn. There will be many themes/locations that I cover over the course of my project, which will last as long as it is fun and until I am satisfied.
I invite you to join me on my journey.
